K Paul Carvings Studio K Paul Carvings studio was featured in the Art & Architecture Tour, Museum of Northwest Art, LaConner, Washington. 1998. The studio is basically the outdoors, with a lean-to shed to store tools and unfinished works. Here is Kevin working "in his studio" on a raven plaque. Carving tools organized for use atop art box created by Kevin's late uncle, Michael Paul. Photo taken in K. Paul Carvings' studio. Photo: Patricia Paul Kevin's paint table (always looks this busy!)
Apprentices
Apprentiships are available to those interested in learning the craft of wood carving. Generally, apprentices begin by hand-sanding commissioned art pieces. Apprentices to date include: Jason Billy and Walter George Simeonoff. There's a lot of shoveling of cedar saw dust as well. Apprentices also learn the care of carving tools. One-to-one carving instruction Established carvers and novice carvers merely need to stop by Kevin's studio when the doors are open or when they see Kevin outside carving. The ones we have seen here generally have their own carving tools and a carving project in-hand, such as a mask.
